Indonesia AirAsia X, the long-haul low-cost carrier, will resume flights to destinations in the Asia Pacific region in May 2017.

The airline is planning to launch a direct connection between Bali and Tokyo on 24 May, providing a new budget service for Japanese tourists visiting the Indonesian resort island. This will mark a return to the Asia Pacific region for the airline, which has suspended its routes to Australia and Taiwan in recent years.

The new service will operate four times a week, departing Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 2300 and arriving at Tokyo’s Narita Airport at 0710 the next morning. The return flights will then depart Narita at 0825 every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and land back in Denpasar at 1425.

Indonesia AirAsia X will deploy its 277-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 on the route, with flat-bed seats in the premium cabin.

At present, Indonesia AirAsia X only flies between Jakarta and Jeddah, serving the Islamic pilgrimage market.
