Emirates passengers are now able to relax in a larger lounge at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The expanded Emirates Airport Lounge at Thailand’s main international gateway reopened recently as part of a US$365 million project to upgrade all of the airline’s 41 global airport lounges. This also recently included the revamp of Emirates’ First and Business Class lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The Suvarnabhumi lounge cost THB76.4m (US$2.2m) to redevelop, and now has an increased seating capacity of 202 passengers. It is expected to serve approximately 450 customers per day, and will be open free-of-charge to Emirates’ first and business class passengers and top frequent flyers.

Designed in line with Emirates’ new lounge concept, the Bangkok facility overlooks the airport garden in Suvarnabhumi’s west wing. It now features leather armchairs, LED TVs, an F&B area with bar seating, shower facilities and a prayer room. For corporate travellers there is also a business centre with touchscreen workstations and free Wi-Fi.

In addition to Bangkok and Singapore, Emirates also has dedicated lounges at 11 other Asia Pacific airports: Auckland, Beijing, Brisbane, Colombo, Delhi, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Perth, Shanghai and Tokyo Narita. All of these are being revamped under the global lounge refurbishment programme.

Emirates currently operates seven daily flights between Dubai and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, six of which use the Airbus A380.
