Spain remains the most popular holiday destinations for British travellers and Croatia has become a major tourist spot for sun-seeking Brits.
Data from Novasol, a provider of self-catering holiday homes, reveals Spain and its islands remains the most popular destination overall this year with a significant rise in bookings of self-catering holiday homes, up 35% on the previous year.
However, Croatia, which has been tipped to become a popular hot spot for British tourists, is the second most popular destination and is also one of the fastest growing destinations overall, with bookings up 44% on last year.
Croatia takes second spot from France, pushing the world’s most popular holiday destination, which welcomes more than 80m travellers from around the world to its shores each year back into third place.
Denmark is the fourth most popular destination, with Novasol reporting a year on year increase in sales of 26%.
Italy completes the list of the top five most popular destinations, with bookings up by a quarter this year.

Germany is the fastest growing destination overall with bookings of self-catering holiday homes up 76% on last year with Croatia in second place.
