Visit 27 tour locations and watch the Budweiser Clydesdales during the kickoff celebration
From the pretzels you enjoy on game day to the roar of a Harley on the highway to the pitch-perfect sounds of the violin in the local symphony orchestra, all of these products and more have one thing in common: they’re all made in York, PA and come to life during the 19th Annual Made in America Tours Event from June 14-17 in York.
The town, which has registered itself as the “Factory Tour Capital of the World,” takes pride in hosting the event that lets you explore the places behind your favorite made in Pennsylvania products. This year’s lineup takes place at 27 different locations, many of which open their doors only for this special tours event. From expansive factory floors to visitor-friendly shops, this celebration of American manufacturing ingenuity takes you behind the scenes at Snyder’s of Hanover, Harley-Davidson Motor Vehicle Operations and Bluett Bros. Violins, which are three of York County’s most popular factory tour locations.
You’ll also see artisans at work at George’s Furniture, where handcrafted tables, chairs and more all bear the signatures of their proud creators. And have a chance to watch as students learn the intricate trade of watch and clock making at the York Time Institute, before sampling potato chips fresh off the line at Martin’s Potato Chips — it’s a tasty experience found nowhere else. Other tour favorites include visiting Sunrise Soap Company, Oakworks and Microtrac Inc. If this is your first year at the event, you’ll be surprised to learn just how far York County’s manufacturing reach goes.
The festival begins with a special kickoff event on Wednesday, June 14, at Brewery Products, where the Budweiser Clydesdales will make a special appearance. For more information, including lodging deals, visit www.yorkpa.org.
