Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that it will operate a new luxury resort on Phuket Island in Thailand, scheduled to open in 2022.
Known for creating luxury hotels that blend with the destination, Mandarin Oriental announced its latest project in the tourist hotspot of Thailand. Phuket is the country’s largest island and a popular resort destination with a wealth of cultural charm. It is host to some of the country’s most coveted beaches, situated along the clear waters of the western shore and is home to many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants.
Set in the Andaman Sea, Mandarin Oriental, Phuket will provide a range of activities including golf, yachting, water sports, restaurants, wellness options and retail. Aside from offering lux itineraries, the property boasts a prime and secluded location along Millionaire Mile’s winding coastline, within 30-minutes from the airport.
Mandarin Oriental, Phuket will be located on one of the undeveloped beachfront sites to be found on the west coast of Phuket island and will occupy 9.5 hectares of land in Laem Singh Bay.
The hotel will provide 105 rooms including 37 bespoke pool villas with significant outdoor spaces, all of which will provide panoramic views of the sea. The site itself encloses a white sand beach with rocky outcrops, providing access for snorkelling and swimming.
Facilities include three restaurants and bars with oceanfront settings, comprising an all-day dining venue, a specialty restaurant, sunset bar and a beach club. There will be a range of flexible function facilities built for landmark events, social gatherings or business meetings.
The group’s signature wellness therapies and treatments will be provided in the Spa at Mandarin Oriental, a well-equipped fitness centre and two outdoor swimming pools. Furthermore, a Kid’s Club and a host of outdoor leisure facilities will also be available.
The property will be the group’s second in Thailand, following Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
