Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced the only direct flights between the UK, from London Heathrow, and the new Scandinavian Mountains Airport for this winter. It also announced direct services from the new airport to Aalborg and Copenhagen.
The new flights from Scandinavian Mountains Airport will operate throughout the winter 2019/20 season, between 29 December 2019 and 11 April 2020. Flights between London Heathrow and Scandinavian Mountains Airport are around two hours in duration and operate each way every Saturday, commencing on 28 December 2019.
The flights between the new airport and Copenhagen will be bi-weekly (Thursday and Sunday) and weekly to/from Aalborg (Sunday). With more than 250 slopes at SkiStar’s resorts within a 25-40 minute transfer from the airport, travellers can enjoy an easy way of getting to the mountain areas in Sälen and Trysil.
SAS and SkiStar are also entering into a strategic partnership which will simplify the booking procedure for all components of a ski package including accommodation, transfers, ski passes and lessons.
Karl Sandlund, executive vice president of commercial at SAS said: “SAS is now offering the first international flight to the new Scandinavian Mountains Airport. A short transfer time and weekend flights from the UK mean we hope lots of British winter sport enthusiasts will travel to explore one of Scandinavia’s leading winter sport regions. Already working in partnership, we will continue to develop our collaboration with SkiStar to make booking a ski trip as simple as possible.”
