Just because most glamorous resort travel has been paused for safety reasons, doesn’t mean the travel-savvy can’t still enjoy the latest and most cutting edge resort wear. Thankfully, the long-awaited Develter x Tube Gallery Resort Wear 2020 collection officially launched last week with a theme of “When Art Meets Style in Paradise.”
For those unaware, Tube Gallery by Phisit & Saxit is an avant-garde Thai fashion label with over 20 years of dressing Thailand — and Asia’s — most eclectic and artsy celebrities, socialites and scene-makers.
Christian Develter is an internationally-renowned Belgian-born artist who has collaborated with Tube Gallery designers Phisit Jongnarangsin and Saxit Pisalasupongs in 2013, creating a single high-end collection to great response, with many of the pieces becoming collectables for fashionphiles since then.
Now, with a resort collection spanning colourful, flowing caftans, trapeze dresses, swim trunks and more, the collaborators plan to make their union permanent, keeping the core shapes of a capsule collection but updating the prints and details each year.
For 2020, their concept lies in arts, journey and fashion. Develter has incorporated his unmistakable work onto lively silhouettes dreamed up by Tube Gallery. Of course, since they are designed for tropical resort wearing, linen, cotton and satin rule.
Though created for jet setters and resorts, the items are versatile enough to be worn from the alleys of Santorini, to a Mediterranean cruise or for simple sunset cocktails in Bangkok.
And the collaboration is already getting noticed. The new Kimpton Maa Lai Hotel commissioned the collaborators to create a signature bathrobe for their guestrooms — a kimono-style printed and colour-blocked robe features in Travel + Leisure’s recent Coolest Hotel x Artist Collabs Out This Year.
Get your key pieces at their pop-up store in Bangkok’s Siam Center or at the Mandarin Oriental gift shop or order directly from Tube Gallery.
