The Standard, Hua Hin, the latest creative hub on the Gulf of Thailand, proudly announces the successful culmination of its inaugural Designer in Residence program, which was established to honor Thailand’s most promising talents. Among the program’s early residents, renowned Thai fashion designer Teema Ruksajit, leveraged her time at the property to craft a capsule collection. This collection seamlessly weaves together her trademark silks with imaginative motifs envisioned by Director Jacq, a self-proclaimed intergalactic artist celebrated for their hand-embroidered fabrics and capes.
The grand unveiling of this remarkable collection took place at The Standard, Hua Hin on November 4, 2023. This unique assemblage showcases designs in earthy hues, meticulously crafted from 100% silk and recycled materials. It is a testament to the creative synergy between these two artists, who drew inspiration from historical elements, personal reminiscences, and spiritual traditions, resulting in a distinctive aesthetic that pays homage to humanity’s connection with nature and the role of mythology. Teema’s eponymous label, TEEMA RUCKSAJIT, specializes in everyday essentials fashioned from silks, designed to be unisex, gender-inclusive, and accessible to all.
These pieces are intentionally versatile, allowing individuals to mix and match as they see fit, fosteringMai Timblick, Chief Creative & Culture Officer of The Standard, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the Artist in Residence program at The Standard, Hua Hin, showcasing the remarkable diversity and talent within Thai fashion.
