The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, a venerable beacon of luxury in Vietnam’s capital, has been honoured as one of the “World’s 500 Best Hotels” by Travel + Leisure magazine. This distinction, part of the magazine’s esteemed “World’s Best” awards, places Metropole Hanoi in the upper echelons of the global hospitality industry. The hotel is one of only six Vietnamese luxury hotels—and just one of two in Hanoi—to make the list this year.
General Manager George Koumendakos expressed the significance of this accolade, “Travel + Leisure is a respected authority in hospitality, and their recognition holds special meaning as we unveil the newly refurbished Heritage Wing, marking a new era in Metropole Hanoi’s storied 123-year history.”
The Heritage Wing, boasting 103 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites, has undergone a meticulous 21-month renovation, reopening its doors to guests last December. While preserving its classic charm and historical elements, the wing now features a fusion of traditional design with modern comforts, cutting-edge technology, and a palette of vibrant colours.
Established in 1901, the hotel has a rich legacy of hosting dignitaries, royalty, and luminaries from various fields. Continuing its tradition of excellence, Metropole Hanoi introduced a new dining series this month, “Rendez-vous.” This culinary initiative pairs Metropole’s renowned chefs with celebrated Michelin-starred counterparts from around the globe. The series will be hosted at Le Beaulieu, the hotel’s contemporary French fine-dining establishment, promising unique and memorable gastronomic events.
The “Rendez-vous” series will commence on May 17-18 with two exclusive dinners crafted by French Chef Arnaud Sauthier, the one Michelin-starred talent behind Bangkok’s Maison Dunand. These events are anticipated to showcase culinary mastery and a testament to Metropole Hanoi’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences to its guests.
