A Life Well Lived is Time Well Spent on Dark Island

Dark Island is a global citizen’s dream, a luxurious floating haven being meticulously crafted by the renowned Scottish firm, Clydebuilt. This magnificent cruise ship promises to redefine opulence with its offering of 236 ultra-luxury residential suites, each designed to provide an unparalleled living experience on the high seas. However, attaining this dream requires a significant investment, as the price of these lavish suites reflects the exclusive nature and grandeur of the accommodations.

A Vision Realised

Planning for the construction of Dark Island began in 2019, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and the ship’s longevity. The long-term goal is for this cruise ship to last a minimum of 50 years, significantly surpassing the current average lifespan for most passenger ships, which is 30 years.

Luxurious Living

Clydebuilt initially envisioned selling 101 suites on an 8-deck ship, with prices ranging from $8,000,000 to $110,000,000. However, revised design plans now reveal that Dark Island will feature 12 decks and 236 suites, capable of accommodating 724 residents and 540 crew members. To further elevate the luxury experience, the ship will also provide a butler service, offering a high-end hotel-like experience to its residents.

Size and Scale

Once completed, Dark Island will have a gross tonnage of 89,750 and a length of 748 feet—equivalent to twice the size of a football field. Initially scheduled to set sail at the end of 2025, the ship’s maiden voyage has now been postponed to 2028.

Maiden Voyage

The itinerary for the maiden voyage has yet to be finalised, but it is expected to be an 800-day-long world cruise. Dark Island promises a respite from everyday worries and anxieties, offering a haven of tranquillity. Guests can enjoy superb views by day and marvel at the stars and planets by night.

Enriching Activities

Dark Island features a plethora of activities to cater to residents’ diverse interests. These include art classes, cooking classes, photography classes, Pilates classes, and a well-stocked library for reading. On-board entertainment options include musical productions, vocalists, guest lecturers, and pianists.

Accessibility and Flexibility

Residents can fly to and from Dark Island, accessible from almost anywhere in the world. They can come and go as they please and bring family and friends on board for a week or a season, sharing fantastic experiences as they voyage together.

Unique Exploration

For reaching remote locations, the on-board helicopter offers spectacular aerial views. Water exploration vehicles provide sea-trek and sea-dive adventures, allowing residents to explore the water’s surface or embark on underwater explorations using a mini-sub.

Customisation and Ownership

At present, there are 1, 2, and 3-bedroom suites available for sale, ranging in size from 420.6 ft² to 2,690 ft². Every suite offers a sea view and residents can personalise their suites with custom designs, reflecting their individual tastes in interior decor.

Yearly Service Fee

Similar to a homeowners association, Dark Island has a yearly service fee that covers everything from Wi-Fi to excursions and spa treatments. The fee also includes every meal and select menu beverages in the restaurant of your choice.

Rental Opportunities

Suite owners can rent out their suites, with a minimum rental period of six months. Family and friends of suite owners are welcome to stay on the ship for short-term stays.
