AAHK welcomes support from policy address on airport city development

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) welcomes the Chief Executive’s support to the Airport City vision in his 2022 Policy Address. In addition to completing the Three-runway System project in 2024 as planned, AAHK will continue to take forward and implement various projects to strengthen connectivity with the Greater Bay Area (GBA), enabling GBA travellers to travel through Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) even more conveniently. AAHK will also further enhance the intermodal transport services, so as to consolidate the international aviation hub status of HKIA and the major role that Hong Kong plays in GBA’s logistics chain.

AAHK will take forward AsiaWorld-Expo phase 2 development in full steam as requested in the Policy Address. Phase 2 development includes building an indoor performance arena with over 20,000 seats and adding more convention and exhibition facilities.

Nurturing talent is the key to the airport’s long term development. AAHK is thankful to the Chief Executive for his support to the collaboration between the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy and aviation training institutions in the Mainland, promoting internships at the airports on both sides for young people. The Academy will also continue its partnership with the National School of Civil Aviation of France in co-organising courses to attract students from Belt and Road countries, consolidating Hong Kong’s position as a regional aviation training centre.
