SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico — On June 30th, 2017, in Miami, the judges at LE Miami, an invite-only trade show showcasing the top boutique hotels in the world, awarded ACRE Hotel with the prestigious award of “Sexiest Hotel Design”.
When Stuart McPherson and Cameron Watt bought the 25 acres of farmland five years ago, they never imagined that ACRE would win “Sexiest Design” amongst over 200 boutique hotels worldwide.
Sexy design doesn’t always stem from big budget design teams,” said Cameron Watt, Co-Owner. “In fact, it seems our lack of experience and our hands-on approach was the winning advantage,” said Watt. “It allowed us to develop the property piece by piece, in an organic manner that grew into what ACRE is now, a very sexy place to stay, eat, and throw parties,” continued Watt.
Working with a limited budget forced Cameron Watt and Stewart McPherson to get creative, using local materials, furniture, and lighting. The result is a property that is both chic, casual, and innately Mexican.
Twelve tree houses will be ready for occupancy this winter on a lushly landscaped property that features a beautiful swimming pool, organic farms, a top-rated restaurant, miniature dwarf goats and other surprises to be explored and discovered.
