Beyond Green, a global portfolio of planet Earth’s most sustainable hotels, recently welcomed four new member properties, including the brand’s first-ever offerings in Guatemala and India. Providing travellers a more intuitive way to find and book authentic, conscious hotel experiences, each of these members are committed – and required – to adhere to more than 50 sustainability indicators that align with global sustainable tourism standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

With a commitment to supporting Nature, Community, and Culture initiatives that are part of making travel a force for good, Beyond Green continues to thoughtfully expand its footprint in destinations around the globe, with a portfolio of 35 hotels, resorts, and lodges across 20 countries. Since its launch in 2021 by Preferred Travel Group, the brand has experienced a steady growth of hotels and resorts of all shapes and sizes embracing the three pillars of sustainability leadership that have been set as the benchmark of joining the Beyond Green family. All member hotels have now received new Beyond Green plaques and lapel pins to identify their affiliation with the brand.

Beyond Green is proud to welcome the following properties to its global portfolio:

  • Starhotels E.c.ho. (Milan, Italy): A sustainable cosmopolitan hotel with a premier location close to Milano Centrale train station, historic city center, and cultural and entertainment districts, Starhotels E.c.ho. (where E.c.ho. stands for Ecological Contemporary Hotel) sits at the confluence of urban cool and contemporary eco-friendliness and awareness. Taking its foundation ethos of sustainability beyond thoughtfully selected furnishings and interior design materials, with its strategic location the hotel helps guests engage in the urban landscape in an environmentally friendly way thanks to its setting mere steps from low-carbon rail and public transportation and within walking distance to some of Italy’s fashion capital’s best landmarks, sights, and attractions. Other amenities include an elegant restaurant with many vegetarian and vegan options, a vibrant bar with a veranda overlooking a peaceful internal garden, and fitness center with skyline views. The hotel also works with Milano Centrale District, an association that aims to improve the quality of life in the area through cultural and urban regeneration activities.
  • Suryagarh (Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India): A place of freedom and of discovery surrounded by a calming silence and the starry skies above, Suryagarh is the gateway to the Thar Desert. Carefully preserving the traditions of India’s past while framing them in a modern context, the fort-style resort features 90 specially-designed rooms and suites looking out to wide verandahs reminiscent of authentic palace architecture, three restaurants, and an immaculate spa. Notable sustainability initiatives include an on-site solar park for generating solar energy, preservation of the area’s natural heritage, and initiatives that support educating village girls and all local youth, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and equality.
  • Hidden India Mahavan (Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh, India): Deep in the Indian jungle known as the tiger heartland of the world lies Hidden India Mahavan, a sustainable luxury glamping experience where ancient cultures and pristine nature come together to create a carbon-negative hideaway. The ultra-exclusive, three-suite retreat nestled near the land of “The Jungle Book” provides guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the region’s heritage, environment, and wildlife while indulging in specially-curated experiences in luxurious comfort. Sustainable initiatives include forest and big cat conservation, use of electric vehicles for guests, elimination of single use plastic throughout the property, support of local artisans and farmers, and more.
  • Porta Hotel Antigua (La Antigua, Guatemala): Once part of former coffee and prickly pear plantations, Porta Hotel Antigua offers outstanding views of the surrounding hills and volcanoes from its Spanish Baroque-styled buildings accented with hewn wooden beams and colorful flooring. Guests enjoy gorgeous gardens and traditionally decorated accommodations that depict distinct destinations in Guatemala, two refreshing swimming pools, its exquisite Ceiba spa, authentic Guatemalan cuisine at the on-site Los Moros Restaurant, and the opportunity to explore one of Central America’s most recognized and renowned destinations. Located in the heart of La Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the luxury hotel lies a short walk from the city’s main plaza where historic charm blends with vibrant culture and community. An authentic and unforgettable sustainable experience, Porta Hotel Antigua takes extra steps to reduce the impact of its operations, including the use of certified equipment and accessories that reduce the water usage and energy consumption, as well as giving priority to locally sourced materials and manufacturers and to local small farmers. The hotel has an onsite cultural concierge who encourages guests to participate in community events to enhance their Guatemala experience.
