Carrier has unveiled its latest brochure, Luxury Ski & Snow 2017/18 including additions and ski travel trends across Europe and North America.
The Easter break is becoming as appealing for skiers as Christmas. High altitude resorts in Europe and North America are a more affordable option at this time of year.
Located in Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, Altapura is ski-in, ski-out with excellent family facilities, whilst Fairmont Chateau Whistler in Canada is fresh from an extensive five year renovation.
There has been a marked increase in the number of people booking a ski resort holiday without having any intention of actually hitting the slopes. Research shows over a million Britons plan to book this type of holiday this year, taking advantage of outdoor adventures and après-ski.
Banff is one of the operator’s top suggestions for non-skiers, with wide ranging pursuits, UNESCO World Heritage Site scenery, shopping, skating, sledding and ice-climbing on offer.
A Vermont road trip has also been introduced along Route 100, one of the most beautiful journeys in the USA. Attractions include varied ski areas, the opportunity to experience historic villages, a Land Rover Driving Experience and a Ben & Jerry’s factory tour.
Carrier has revamped its Nordic Winter Experiences pages. New accommodation in Finnish Lapland includes two chalets and the Arctic Tree House Hotel – newly opened in December 2016.
Featuring luxury pod-style rooms raised on stilts, the hotel is suited to couples and smaller families, an audience less well catered for in the past. Guests can enjoy a range of Arctic adventures such as dog sledding and snowmobiling, as well as private visits to Father Christmas.
Further to increased demand, Iceland has been re-introduced to the brochure. Hotel Grimsborgir is new to the portfolio and is near the Gullfoss Waterfall and Strokkur Geysir, as well as having access to snowmobiling and glacier hiking.
Carrier’s Switzerland offering has been expanded with the introduction of Gstaad.
Newly introduced with families in mind, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in the Austrian Tyrol offers one of the best children’s ski areas in the Alps.
Now having the largest ski area in the USA, Park City, Utah has also been introduced with the addition of the Waldorf Astoria Park City. Only 35 minutes from Salt Lake City Airport, Easter skiers will find this a particularly accessible destination with direct flights from London starting 24 March 2018.
Product Manager, Liz Goodwin said, “The launch of our 2017/18 Luxury Ski & Snow programme to the trade has been timed to assist in securing the most sought-after properties and the very best early booking offers. Whistler has fantastic savings on bookings made by the end of August, chalets across Europe are already booking up for peak holiday weeks and Father Christmas is in high demand during December – so now is the time to book and we are confident Carrier’s latest brochure will assist travel agents to inspire their clients with their ski holiday choices for the coming winter season.”
