Centrally located in the capital’s Pathum Wan district, InterContinental Bangkok has launched a new design concept, a beautiful synthesis of floral and opulent styles. Here is all about the idea behind it in an ever-evolving market, plus the advantages the hotel’s geographical position offers.
A meaningful concept
Symbolising the Thai way of welcoming people, new floral designs await travellers at this 5 star hotel in Bangkok after its thorough renovation. The floral welcome begins in the lobby, where a chandelier shaped like a Phuang Malai Thai flower garland sets the stage for a memorable stay. Embellished with more than 15,000 hand-crafted crystals and hand-blown, amber and rose gold pieces of glass, the decorative frame embodies the gracious and formal welcome deeply rooted in Thai culture.
The hand-tufted carpet right below the Phuang Malai-reminiscent chandelier plays into that noble vibe. It depicts a 2D image of the same flower, a symbol of love, honour, and generosity of Thai people. Woven into Thai culture, this intricate detail underscores the profound significance of floral greetings.
A traditional design
Phuang Malai, which has been traditionally used to welcome people and show respect, now takes centre stage at InterContinental Bangkok, one of the best 5 star hotels in Bangkok.
The gorgeous fusion of ancient and modern traditions welcomes guests back to the hotel after the smooth and luxurious redesign. The value of flowers cherished in Thai culture and ubiquitous across the hotel’s premises creates a peaceful atmosphere in today’s fast-paced world.
Much like Thai households, where flowers ceremoniously float in brass bowls near entrances because they’re believed to be highly auspicious, the lobby’s art boasts floating, timelessly beautiful flowers. Another visual delight are the falling flowers depicted in the wall art on the staircase to the lobby level.
Blending well with this theme, the flowers hanging from the chandelier in the Balcony Lounge add ambience, looking as if blossoms are floating above patrons.
One of the luxurious hotels in Bangkok, InterContinental features flower patterns throughout the hotel, from carpets and lifts to signs and sculptures to art works. The hotel’s remodel has gone into the tiniest detail with the floral design. Pastel-hued, silk-embroidered headboards and bed sheets add elegance, as do floral-patterned napkins in the hotel’s main restaurant.
Better rooms and upgraded amenities
The new design concept goes beyond floral patterns and champagne gold chandeliers known for its lustrous brilliance of gold and subtle touches of pink. To meet contemporary expectations aesthetically and functionally, the remodel has included InterContinental’s 381 luxury and suites. Beginning on Level 17, overlooking the vibrant metropolis of Bangkok, the light-flooded rooms have hardwood floors with textured carpets for hygiene and comfort.
To improve the guest experience, technology has been integrated seamlessly into the hotel environment. As well as high-speed Internet access, travellers can use in-room flat panel Chrome-cast TVs and Bluetooth speakers. The suites are also fitted out with Sealy Posturepedic mattresses, luxurious linens, plus a pillow menu to ensure a good night’s sleep.
Brand new is also the whirlpool in the Oasis Swimming Pool on the rooftop. One of the best hotel pools in Bangkok, Oasis offers dramatic, 270-degree views of central Bangkok best enjoyed at sunset.
One of the best hotels in Bangkok Lumphini, InterContinental Bangkok, unlike other hotels, allows direct access to the shopping malls of President Arcade and Gaysorn Village.
With the BTS SkyTrain station Chidlom just nearby, the hotel’s strategic location ideal for business events offers excellent connectivity to Bangkok’s city centre and beyond. The Suvarnabhumi Airport is 30 km away via express way, or a 40-minute ride on the Airport Rail Link and the BTS SkyTrain. The international airport of Don Mueang is only 23 km by car via express way.
Complete with personalised service and plenty of meeting facilities, InterContinental Bangkok, one of the best 5 star hotels in Bangkok, sits in a prime location.
