IWTA speaks with Huong Dang, Founder of Hopebox VN
Background:
Growing up in a small farming community outside of Hanoi, Huong’s dream was to become a teacher. She loved reading books and going to school from an early age inspired by her uncle who was a qualified teacher.
At the tender age of 16 she moved to Hanoi to work as a baby sitter to help support her single mother and putting her siblings through school. Her desire for education did not fade, in fact it got stronger. The hope to educate herself was not supported by the family she worked for.
Life took a turn, but Huong remained focused and determined to graduate high school. Listen to her incredible journey from the small farming village to Australia and back again. The importance of education and what an incredible difference one can do to someone’s life by listening, empowering and giving hope.
