Japan Airlines has confirmed that its newly-renovated lounge at Okinawa’s Naha Airport will open on 28 February 2017.
The new Sakura Lounge is located in the domestic area of the airport, and will follow the design concept of JAL’s other new domestic lounges, including the facilities at Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport.
Designed by Japanese interior designer Ryu Kosaka, who also created the Sapporo lounge and the new international lounge at Tokyo Haneda Airport, the new Sakura Lounge at Naha Airport is adorned with local artworks.
The space has been expanded by approximately 20% and now features 85 seats, seven more than before, most of which have power outlets and space to store carry-on baggage. There is also a private security checkpoint for first class passengers and top frequent flyers.
The opening of the new Okinawa lounge will come just a day before JAL launches its new Sakura Lounge at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on 1 March 2017.
