Silicon Valley based bike company, Tempo Bicycles, has teamed up with Dam eBikes in Lake Tahoe to bring a novel, high tech bicycling experience to visitors.
This summer, visitors to Lake Tahoe will have a fun, new option to enjoy the area’s charm and natural beauty. Dam eBikes, a subsidiary of Truckee River Rafting Company, will offer Tempo hybrid electric bicycles for rental at affordable rates on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Located in Tahoe City, Dam eBikes is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe adjacent to the family friendly Tahoe Trailways Bike Path. The bike path follows the winding Truckee River through evergreen forests, mountain meadows and public parks right to the doorstep of Squaw Valley, host of the 1964 Winter Olympics. Tempo hybrid electric bicycles make it easy for even novice riders to enjoy the breathtaking scenery safely, quietly and comfortably.
Family owned and operated for over 40 years, current Dam eBikes owners and siblings Ryan and Jennifer Bell, are happy to be introducing Lake Tahoe to a new kind of biking experience in which entire families can take part. “There are so many mountain bike shops around here, we didn’t want to offer people more of the same. Many of our customers are families so electric bikes made sense since they offer something that’s not limited to hardcore cyclists,” said Ryan.
Vân Nguyen, Tempo Founder and President, is happy to be collaborating with the family business and introducing locals and tourists to a new way of exploring Lake Tahoe. Tempo hybrid electric bicycles feature auto shifting technology to allow comfortable pedaling even in hilly and windy conditions. Sophisticated software provides instantaneous speed, battery level and motor assistance level feedback. The carbon belt drive also makes for a quieter, smoother ride than that of a bike with a traditional chain.
