Nepal resumes on-arrival visa for fully vaccinated travellers, no need to quarantine

In a bid to boost tourism, Nepal has resumed visa on arrival for those international visitors who are fully vaccinated without quarantine requirement. The Himalayan nation is hoping to revive its tourism sector with this announcement. To make things easier for oversea tourists, the government has also removed the quarantine requirement.

All travellers need is their vaccine certificate and the last dose of the vaccine must have been taken at least 14 days before entering the country. Indian citizens vaccinated with Covishield and Covaxin can enter the country.

The Tourism Ministry of Nepal has said that international travellers who are fully vaccinated will still have to show a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours. Upon arrival, foreign visitors will also need to take a rapid antigen test at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport.

Those planning to enter the country via roadways, will have to get a visa on arrival and fill an online departure form before commencing the journey. Unvaccinated tourists will have to show a negative RT-PCR test report and quarantine after reaching the country.

The government had stopped the visa on arrival facility in March 2021. Those who wished to visit the country were supposed to quarantine and show a seven-day proof of hotel booking in Nepal government approved hotels.
