Pakistan announces significant change to visa policies

The Pakistani government announced a landmark change to its visa policies in light of recommendations from the 2024 National Tourism Symposium.

Under the revised visa policies, nationals from 126 countries may now obtain a Visa Prior to Arrival, valid for 90 days, at no cost.

This visa policy reform aims to promote foreign tourism and increase accessibility to the scenic beauty of Pakistan.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation managing director Aftab Ur Rehman Rana hailed this development as a landmark step in the country’s tourism strategy.

Rana said: “The new simplified visa application process and the introduction of visa-free entry for the citizens of 126 countries serve as a goodwill gesture from the Government of Pakistan.”

He likewise expressed hope that other nations would reciprocate in a way that would benefit Pakistani citizens traveling abroad.

Who is covered by the revised visa policies?

Currently, the initiative includes major Middle Eastern countries like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, whose citizens are now eligible for a 90-day visa-free entry.

This policy adjustment is expected to significantly boost the influx of tourists from these regions to Pakistan.

Through its revised visa policies, Pakistan aims to project itself as a welcoming and diverse destination, offering everything from the majestic northern Karakorum mountains to the rich cultural experiences of the southern Indus River delta.

The changes further underscore Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and tourist-friendly environment, contributing to the growth and diversity of its travel industry.
