Primera Air marked the official launch of its aircraft routes from London Stansted to New York with a production of ‘America’ from West-Side Story.
What a way to start off a new route! With a song and dance number, Primera Air has outdone itself with a Broadway-worthy performance at the official launch of its new flights from London to New York. The celebration was within reason, of course, as the airline is the first in 10 years to fly scheduled trans-Atlantic routes from London Stansted to New York, Boston, Toronto and Washington DC.
2018 is a big year for the airline that started out as a charter operation. This year, it’s getting one additional Boeing NG, eight more Airbus 321 NEO/LR’s – the same ones to be used for the new transatlantic routes – and 20 plus more Boeing Max9’s coming in 2019.
“We’re aiming to make expensive long-haul travel history”
Officially launching the Airbus A321NEO aircraft, the celebrations kicked off in London Stansted’s departures lounge with performers, putting on a show worthy of the Tony Awards (well, at least they tried) for official representatives of the airline, as well as lucky holiday-makers and passers-by.
Anastasija Visnakova, chief commercial officer at Primera Air said: “We are delighted to mark this exciting occasion by bringing New York’s Broadway to the home of the West-End. We have already begun operations in London and really wanted to make a song and dance of the fact that we’re aiming to make expensive long-haul travel history.”
Primera Air is a low-fare Nordic airline that operates flights from Europe to more than 70 destinations across the Mediterranean, Middle East, Asia, Caribbean and North America.
It has now officially launched its London Stansted – New York routes with fares starting from £149 one-way. More routes from London Stansted will be launching this summer to Boston, Toronto and Washington DC.
