根据C9 Hotelworks发布的最新报告，抵达普吉岛机场的旅客数量在2016年超过了750万人次，年度同比增长18%。这可以部分归因于俄罗斯市场的回温，与去年相比增长51%。旅客的回温是由俄罗斯卢布的升值带来，以及中东局势的动乱导致俄罗斯旅客更多的选择前往泰国旅游。
另一个普吉岛重要的市场，中国内地市场也收到了泰国政府对“零元旅游团”打击的影响，导致全年中国旅客增长率从2015年的35%降低至今年的11%。
该调查还发现，这一打击力度预计将于2017年变弱，并且在中国春节期间，前往泰国旅游的游客人数还会继续增长。
