Rotana unveils paperless operations and no mobile while dining campaign

As part of Rotana Earth, the global corporate sustainability platform, Rotana Hotels Capital Centre in Abu Dhabi organised two campaigns- ‘paperless hotel operations’ and ‘no mobile while dining’.

In line with its paperless initiative to protect the environment, the hotel hosted a ‘paperless operations day’ to send the message of environmental conservation to guests, colleagues and suppliers. The paperless day involved daily operations paper free. The morning briefing was held via digital screens, guest check – in forms were emailed instead of being printed. All printers were shut down in the complex and all operational and administrative departments could only exchange documents over digital sources.

To send a social message of enjoying the meal to the fullest and spending quality time with family and friends while dining, Dino’s Bistro Italiano hosted a ‘No mobile while dining campaign’. Guests were encouraged over a lunch meal to leave their mobile phones at the reception, with the hostess. At the end of the meal, guests who participated in the campaign were surprised by a free lunch.

Karim Nahas, general manager of Rotana Hotels Capital Centre said: “We are on a journey to find innovative solutions to tackle issues affecting the community we operate in. These campaigns have given us a good head start into finding modern solutions that will both reduce our environmental impact and involve our community through social messages.”
