Royal Caribbean International’s highly anticipated new ship, Star of the Seas, has reached a significant construction milestone, floating for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. This momentous event marks a major step towards the ship’s debut in August 2025, less than a year away.
A Grand Celebration
On October 3, 2024, Royal Caribbean and thousands of workers celebrated as Star of the Seas floated one step closer to its debut. The ceremony, a maritime tradition, included a shot from a cannon and filling the dry dock with 92 million gallons of water, an overnight process that took nearly nine hours. The ship floated out of the dock and into the outfitting pier, where it will be continued to take shape inside and out.
