The Amman-based flag carrier (AMM) Royal Jordanian (RJ) has advertised the reintroduction of flights to BOM and DEL in India this year. RJ posted an Instagram post listing DEL and BOM locations it will fly to in 2025. Though RJ has not specified when the routes will be resumed, this is expected to be around July.

The airline suspended both of these routes over ten years ago. Flights to BOM were stopped on September 10, 2014, while DEL flights were terminated on October 31, 2014. The oneworld member airline discontinued these routes due to weak passenger demand. RJ has thus not operated flights to India for over a decade.

Last year, the Managing Director of Jordan’s Tourism Board, Dr Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, stated that RJ would likely resume services from AMM to BOM and DEL in July 2025. The resumption of these routes would benefit travellers and reaffirm RJ’s position as a key player in the Middle East-India corridor.

India is a significant market for the airline, with over 75,000 passengers traveling between Jordan and India in 2023. The resumption of flights will provide travellers with more direct flights between the two countries, improving connectivity in the Middle East-India corridor.

By reintroducing these key routes, the airline aims to offer enhanced connectivity, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
