据上海日报报道，位于上海临港地区的上海极地海洋项目进入地下工程施工阶段，将于2018年7月开业。并将设有一个大型的室内滑雪场，Winter Star 冰雪之星项目也已签订商务合作协议。
新的项目建成后，临港将在2020年预计迎来1千万人次旅客，开发项目的管理委员会表示道。
上海极地海洋世界面积达到300，000平方米，包括大型展示北极以及北极野生动物的区域，同时会设有3家剧院以及另外15座娱乐设施。虽然Winter Star的细节还未公布，官方表示他们希望这能成为全球最大的滑雪度假村。
临港距离上海市中心约有30分钟车程。
