Six Niseko hotels receive Michelin Keys

Six hotels in Niseko, Japan’s winter playground, achieved coveted Michelin Keys as the hospitality rating system debuted in the country.

Luxury ryokan Zaborin came out on top, receiving an impressive two Michelin Keys for its exceptional mix of contemporary luxury, traditional comfort, and local charm. The ryokan is just one of 17 Japanese hotels to receive the two-Key distinction.

Five other hotels in the region received Michelin Key ratings, as the Guide Michelin recognised Niseko’s reputation as one of Japan’s premier destinations.

Hotels that received the one Michelin Key rating are Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; Muwa Niseko; Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono; Sansui Niseko; and Setsu Niseko.

While this is only the first time that Michelin Keys have been awarded in Japan, they serve as proof of the excellence of Japanese hospitality. Likewise, the recognition of various accommodations is likely to boost regional appeal for both local and foreign travellers.
