Somabay Golf is delighted to unveil its new Par 3 Golf Course and Short Game Arena, catering to all skill levels and providing golfers with the opportunity to perfect every scoring shot.
The new Par 3 Course, designed by Tim Lobb and James Edwards, sits at the heart of Somabay’s expansive golfing complex and is a reimagining of the traditional par 3 course. On the course, players can perfect every approach shot imaginable with a succession of tees that are measured in yards, allowing both novices and seasoned golfers to elevate their approach game. The course also incorporates floodlights, inviting guests to extend their play time and enjoy a 9-hole round under the starry night sky.
Joining the Par 3 Course is the new 5,000sqm Short Game Arena, which provides 27 different zones for golfers to practice every shot imaginable. The jewel in the Somabay Golf Academy’s crown, the Short Game Arena is a world-class facility, promising to add an exciting twist to any player’s putting practice. Dedicated zones within the Arena can also be reserved for professional practice, allowing coaches to oversee clients while they home in on a particular type of shot without interruption.
The unveiling of the new facilities comes following The Cascades Golf Resort, Spa & Thalasso at Somabay’s recent recognition at the World Golf Awards, where the resort was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Egypt’s Best Golf Hotel’. This recognition by the golf industry’s leading award scheme showcases Somabay’s commitment to offering the very best in golfing, with the destination having invested significantly in developing its golfing facilities in recent years.
With year-round sunshine and facilities that cater to a range of abilities, Somabay offers the perfect backdrop for golfers looking to practice their swing in a prime Red Sea location. The new facilities join the destination’s existing Gary Player designed 18-hole championship course, which takes players on a journey through the Red Desert, with six holes positioned along the coastline, providing a dramatic contrast between the rugged coastline and the turquoise waters beyond.
Sustainability is at the heart of the development of Somabay Golf, with indigenous, water-saving plants having been increasingly incorporated into the facilities. The Gary Player championship course was also recently relayed using Paspalum Platinum, which is tolerant to both salt and high temperatures, allowing for the reduction of water usage, while a new 5mw solar plant has also been implemented to reduce the destination’s carbon footprint.
Escape to Egypt’s Best Golf Hotel, The Cascades Golf Resort Spa & Thalasso, this winter and enjoy the ultimate golfing holiday with a few rounds at Somabay Golf’s world-class facilities.
