Thai based luxury boutique hotel specialist, and home grown success story, Akaryn Hotel Group, is on a mission to become a single-use plastic free hotel company by June 2019.

Coming just a couple of days after my interview with Anchalika Kijkanakorn, managing director and founder of AKARYN Hotel Group (AHG), the Thai-based hospitality company has revealed details of its ambitious expansion plan for akyra Hotels & Resorts.

With the recent opening of akyra Tas Sukhumvit Bangkok as the first hotel to launch as single use plastic free hotel, Akaryn Hotel Group (AHG) unveiled it’s eco-credentials. Suitably intrigued, I spoke to AHG’s founder and MD, Anchalika Kijkanakorn, to drill down into the company’s environmental campaigns, how they came to be and the Pure Blue Foundation.

Akaryn Hotel Group aims to become a single-use plastic free hotel company by 2020. The Group’s newest opening, akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok, launching in May 2018, is set to lead the charge in this initiative by becoming the first new hotel in Asia to launch without single-use plastic in its rooms or food and beverage outlets.
