The Philippines has suspended its reopening to foreign tourists from certain countries due to the threat of new COVID-19 variant.

The Philippines has updated the testing and quarantine rules for incoming travellers. The country is also following a traffic light system naming “red, yellow, and green” countries and jurisdictions.

The Philippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has approved to shorten the quarantine for fully-vaccinated travellers from green countries.

In a bid to encourage Filipinos itching to travel after almost a year in lockdown to rediscover their own backyard, the Philippines’ IATF has announced new travel protocols.

The Bureau of Immigration will allow more foreigners to travel to the Philippines following the government’s COVID-19 task force has expanded the list of foreign nationals allowed entry in the country.

Foreigners bearing valid visas can now travel to the Philippines but are still subjected to strict health and quarantine protocols.
