The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announces the appointment of Chompu Marusachot as the new Director of TAT New York Office. With nearly a decade of experience at TAT marked by innovative campaigns and transformative projects, Director Chompu brings extensive experience and a refined understanding of TAT’s mission and objectives to her new role. Drawing upon her seasoned perspective, she will oversee many of TAT New York’s initiatives to continue to maintain Thailand’s position as a world-class tourism destination.
In her previous positions within TAT, Director Chompu spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives that garnered international acclaim. During her tenure as the Director of Information Technology Office, she successfully managed the award-winning “One and Only” campaign, which earned Grand and Gold prizes at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) annual Gold Awards in 2016. This online initiative engaged young travelers through social media, showcasing immersive experiences in Thai culture, lifestyle, and tourist attractions. Later, in the same role, she introduced the award-winning “6Senses of Local Experience in Thailand” campaign, which introduced a new twist on traditional local Thai experiences to foreign visitors and received the prestigious PATA Gold Awards in 2018.
In 2020, transitioning to Director of TAT, Phetchaburi Office, Chompu played a pivotal role in transforming Cha-am and Hua Hin into Thailand’s Wellness Sandbox, attracting medical tourism and health-conscious travelers to these locations. In her most recent position as Director of the Digital Strategy Division since 2022, Chompu has designed and managed the Future Enterprise Architecture, a comprehensive digital strategic plan for TAT’s organizational structure
Director Chompu expressed her excitement regarding the appointment, stating, “I am honored and excited to lead the TAT New York team. Thailand has so much to offer, and I am committed to showcasing its diverse beauty, rich culture, and unique experiences. Together, we will make Thailand the top-of-mind destination, working towards stronger and sustainable, more responsible, more accessible and more inclusive tourism growth.”
As Director Chompu begins her new role, TAT bids farewell to their previous esteemed Director, Santi Sawangcharoen. Under his guidance, Thailand has flourished as a world-class tourism destination. Chompu will build upon his success with the continuation of ongoing projects and strategic plans such as the production of The White Lotus Season 3, joint marketing projects with airline partners such as EVA Air, Air Canada, and Qatar Air, as well as co-op marketing campaigns with Gate 1 Travel, Goway Travel, Direct Travel, and luxury travel partners including Remote Lands.
Looking ahead, as the new Director of TAT New York, Director Chompu envisions leveraging cutting-edge technology to propel Thailand’s tourism to new heights. She is committed to introducing experience-based tourism and emphasizing the kingdom’s 5F Thai soft powers – Food, Film, Festival, Fight, and Fashion – to provide unforgettable experiences for international tourists.
