Continuing to build on momentum over the past several summers, Colorado Flights Alliance (CFA) has secured a major jump in flights into Montrose (MTJ) and Telluride (TEX) regional airports for both the coming season as well as year-round. The air access to the Telluride region has never been so robust.
Looking at raw numbers, 2017 summer air service at MTJ is up 20% in flight operations and 18% in seats over 2016, and up 46% in flight operations and 28% in seats from 2015.
With the return of year-round service to TEX on Great Lakes/United from Denver (DEN), 2017 summer flights into both TEX and MTJ are up 47% in flight operations over 2016 and 79% from 2015. Seats to the two airports serving Colorado’s central Western Slope are up 27% over 2016 and 37% over 2015.
The big news on summer routes are the previously announced daily flights, year-round DEN-TEX and DFW-MTJ service, as well as new additions including daily PHX-MTJ flights and ORD-MTJ Saturday service on American, and extended daily ORD-MTJ flights through Labor day on United.
“The continued major jumps in summer and year-round air service for the Telluride region are excellent signs of regional economic growth, and great additions to the travel options for both our local residents and incoming visitors,” said Matt Skinner, Chief Operating Officer for Colorado Flights.
The DFW year-round service is a first for MTJ in having additional year round service from a market outside of Colorado. This service also provides an alternative to Denver (DEN) connections in order to access the Telluride region during the shoulder times of year. TEX had experienced a two-year period without commercial air service, and is thrilled to have United partner Great Lakes once again serving the airport on a daily basis.
“This summer promises to be firing on all cylinders with the newly minted, year-round service,” said Michael Martelon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Telluride Tourism Board. “As we market the region, Colorado Flights Alliance continues to make our destination more easily accessible for our guests to experience all that Telluride, Mountain Village and the region has to offer.”
