Further continuing its commitment to protecting the environment under ‘Fly Green Fund’, Thai Vietjet will host its first-ever ‘Garbage Hunter: Scuba Project’, an extension of the environmental initiative ‘Garbage Hunter’, amidst the Gulf of Thailand, at Samae San Island, Chonburi, on August 14, 2023.

The ‘Garbage Hunter’ team was founded in early 2022 with a mission to remove garbage from various places in Thailand, raise environmental consciousness among the airline’s staff and members, drive sustainability awareness, and reduce trash and waste from the environment. Since its establishment, Thai Vietjet has successfully hosted over 10 editions of Garbage Hunter events across Thailand, including Phuket, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Udon Thani, etc. The latest edition of Garbage Hunter goes beyond on-land cleanup efforts, focusing on the vital task of removing trash from both beaches and even deeper this time, in the ocean, safeguarding marine life, and preserving the environment. This will be a remarkable opportunity where participants can take part in a wide range of activities to remove garbage from diving spots at Samaesan Island.

With the Garbage Hunter events being hosted throughout the year, the airline expects to remove at least five tons of garbage from places in Thailand each year, by arranging a wide range of environmental activities and cooperation with many organizations throughout the year. In the next stage, apart from the airline’s staff itself, the airline expects to extend the participation to the staff’s friends and family, as well as the public and tourists in Thailand.
