The Datai Langkawi to appear in BBC documentary series

Malaysia’s acclaimed rainforest resort The Datai Langkawi is among the hotels slated to be featured in the sixth season of BBC Studios’ documentary series Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby.

The programme is known for taking a rarely glimpsed, behind-the-scenes look at some of the world’s most extraordinary hotels.

The Datai Langkawi’s general manager Stephane Duvacher commented: “It is a great privilege to be part of the BBC Studios’ Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond The Lobby, and it was a pleasure welcoming Monica Galetti and Rob Rinder and helping them experience firsthand what it is like to work in our rainforest resort. Our staff and guests really connected with them both and we hope that this new episode will inspire viewers from the UK and around the world to discover the unique beauty and tranquillity of The Datai Langkawi.”

The episode featuring the resort airs in October.

Into the heart of the Malaysian rainforest

For this season, hosts Monica Galetti and Rob Rinder join the team at The Datai Langkawi to learn about what it takes to run a resort of this calibre sustainably in the heart of an ancient jungle teeming with wildlife.

The episode featuring the resort sees Galetti and Rinder’s immersion in The Datai Langkawi’s rainforest surroundings as they learn more about how it integrates sustainability and conservation into all aspects of its business operations and guest experiences. The episode also speaks about the wider work the resort supports through its private trust, The Datai Pledge.

Offering a unique insight into what it’s like to live and work in this extraordinary setting, they explore the 10-million-year-old rainforest which is home to an array of rare tropical flora and fauna.

The presenters hear heartwarming stories from the team, who deliver the Malaysian hospitality that is so deeply embedded in the country’s culture and characterised by friendliness, warmth, and kindness.
