Pavilions Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Madrid property, which doubles as an art gallery featuring works from acclaimed local artists.

The Pavilions Madrid, managed by the independent boutique hospitality brand, aims to bring a distinct experience to art-loving guests with original artwork in all of its rooms and communal areas. Created for those seeking art inside a property and out, it is also positioned within the capital’s area of main museums and art galleries.

The opening of this property is part of the brand’s plan to expand its footprint across Europe and Asia. In addition to The Pavilions Madrid, the brand operates in Amsterdam and Rome, as well as in Lisbon, where a new property is currently under construction.

“We are delighted to open here as we introduce our unique Asian-inspired hospitality to guests, and extend the experience of romance, art, culture and adventure we have been sharing for more than 17 years in our other properties around the world,” added Oldham.

The Pavilions Madrid features 25 rooms and three suites with terraces overlooking the city. It’s located on Amador de Los Ríos Street, right next to Plaza de Colón, and underwent intense refurbishment with more than US$1 million invested in the project. The renovation was carried out by Zimenta, which specialises in unique projects, with a design created by Studio Marincola Architects.

The architecture firm chose to use warm, earthy textures complimented by blue hues that evoke a Mediterranean feel. The fabrics used throughout the design feature graphics in black and white, which cover headboards and seating, to offer an artistic reference to the architectural prints historically associated with the Spanish capital.

The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts has already made its name in Asia, with properties in paradise destinations such as Phuket and Bali, and adventurous spots like Nepal and Mongolia. The company is also making its way into building residential and mixed-use developments with projects in Niseko, Japan – the luxury Ginto Residences and The Pavilions Niseko – scheduled to open in 2020.
