You know you love a deal — but is this for real? Primera Air is looking to attract attention with a £99 fare promo for their services from Stanstead to New York, Boston, DC and Toronto (that’s about $137 USD if you’re coming from the other direction).
These fares go on sale March 22nd and they are offering just 99 tickets, in each of the four North American Markets (396 in total), so don’t bank on getting a seat. As, unfortunately, it’s a marketing program versus a new standard market price point.
A quick check of their website however, reveals there still maybe something to get excited about. Standard fares are on offer at only £179 ($248) each way to Toronto and £159($220) for USA destinations. Very competitive compared with anything else on the market. In fact, the direct service to Toronto on Primera Air will save you £100’s, when measured against other currently available direct London services — now that’s something for Londoners and Canadians to get pumped about!
Although the Nordic airline is already well established, having successfully operated in Northern Europe for the last 14 years, the North American routes will be the first time Primera Air has graced British soil. Primera Air will be the first airline in 10 years to operate scheduled transatlantic flights from London Stanstead Airport – bringing new North America links to the area.
Launching out of London Stanstead Airport, the airline will introduce the following routes:
So what is a flight on Primera Air like?
The new flight will be operated using new Airbus A321 Neo aircraft. It’s a great aircraft known for being very quiet…but it is a narrow body so expect a 3×3 configuration with standard LCC legroom. Airbus states standard seating capacity ranges from 206 all the way up to 240….let’s hope the new Primera transatlantic services is closer to 2106. Plan ahead and don’t get the center seat for the 8 hour flight!
Primera Air traditionally doesn’t offer inflight entertainment but they do offer WIFI for a fee and USB charging so bring along your own device and entertainment! They offer a pretty robust snack and beverage service for a fee. As with any LCC expect baggage fees.
Looking forward to having more options in the market? If you are traveling light, and don’t mind providing your own food and inflight entertainment, then make sure to check-out the Primera Air site for more information.
