Tourism Authority of Thailand takes its Amazing Thailand Road Show to Indonesia

Officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) are currently in Indonesia as they bring the Amazing Thailand Road Show to the cities of Medan, Jakarta, and Bali.

The roadshow kicked off on Tuesday, 17th September in Medan, and will be in Jakarta today, 18th September. The tour’s final stop on 20th September is in Bali.

The delegation includes TAT officials, as well as 18 tourism suppliers, covering hotels, airlines, local tour operators, attractions, and golf courses. Participants include over 100 Indonesian travel agents from the three cities.

TAT Jakarta Office director Sirinard Chatsupakul said of the event: “The Amazing Thailand Road Show to Indonesia 2024 is an important B2B marketplace for TAT and Thai tourism suppliers to meet with our Indonesian tourism partners. The event is aimed to showcase a multitude of exceptional travel experiences in Thailand and to encourage Indonesians to travel more to destinations up and down the kingdom.”

A growing market

The Indonesian market to Thailand grew significantly over the past year. In 2023, the number of Indonesian tourists to Thailand totalled 760,938. In the first eight months of 2024, the number reached 570,386, and by the end of the year, it is expected to hit the 900,000-mark.

The expectation is based on TAT’s proactive marketing activities in the market, along with favourable factors including Indonesia’s robust economy which has driven strong demand for outbound travel among Indonesians and the rebound of air connections between Thailand and Indonesia.

A product update and more

The showcase covers destinations and routings carefully selected for the Indonesian market by the TAT and tourism partners. These include Bangkok and beyond, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Phang-Nga, Krabi, Hat Yai and surrounding areas, and Ko Samui.

The programme itself aims to familiarise Indonesian travel agents with TAT’s Amazing Thailand: Your Stories Never End marketing communication theme, which features Five Must-Do Experiences in Thailand.

Each of the day-long programmes included a national product update, as well as B2B networking sessions and a banquet with lucky draws.
