Following the U by Uniworld’s “Sneak Peek” cruise on The B last month, the company says there has been much interest for the new brand, particularly amongst travel industry partners, who have expressed interest in experiencing the first-ever millennial river cruise line first-hand.
To meet this growing demand, U by Uniworld will open eight sailings across itineraries along the Seine, Danube and Rhine rivers to the travel agent community for 2018, lifting the 21-45 year old age restrictions so that agents of all ages can experience it for themselves.
The U brand offers travel for 21-45 year olds; select itineraries will be removed from the U by Uniworld website, will not be on direct sale to the public, and will not be part of the regular U cruise 2018 line-up.
These eight sailings will instead be made available to travel agents, regardless of their age, giving them the opportunity to experience and understand the U by Uniworld product.
An allotment of 20 rooms per cruise will be available at a special travel agent rate of 60% off the published fare on select itineraries on The A and The B in April, May, August and October 2018.
As part of this sales opportunity for the trade, agents will also have the opportunity to book their clients of any age, who are curious about the product offering, onto one of these eight departures. Because these places are not available to book via any other means, other than through U’s travel agent partners, this is a stand-alone opportunity for agents to offer U cruises to any customer who might be interested in the product, otherwise reserved exclusively for the young professional market.
“Travel agents have always been an integral part of our sales strategy and research has demonstrated that millennials increasingly seek experts to help plan their travel experiences,” said Ellen Bettridge, president & CEO of Uniworld.
“We want to ensure we are providing travel agents the best opportunities to not only experience this history-making river cruise for themselves, but to also best meet the needs of this diverse millennial generation.”
