The Chinese government announced that nine nuclear power plants are now among its attractions under a new nuclear tourism initiative.

This first-of-its-kind online tourism reservation system covers tours at nuclear plants under the China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN).

Offering such tours aims to enhance scientific cognition of and trust in nuclear power, contributing to the high-quality development of China’s nuclear power industry.

At the same time, the company also released its first-ever Nuclear Power Industry Tourism White Paper, presenting its tourism roadmap for nuclear power plants involved in the programme and plans to integrate tourist attractions around them.

Where to book

With the official launch of the online reservation system, visitors can now make appointments through CGN’s official account or the “core walk” mini programme on WeChat for individual or group reservations. 

Dayawan, China’s first large scale commercial nuclear power plant, is among these unusual attractions. Construction for the plant began in August 1987, and it opened for public visits in 2013.Aug. 7, 1987 and opened for public visits in 2013. 

Related nuclear power plants have received more than one million visitors so far.
