It will soon be more convenient to travel between India and the Asia Pacific region, following the formation of a new partnership between two airlines.

India’s Jet Airways and Singapore-based Jetstar Asia have announced plans for a codeshare agreement that will create a series of new travel opportunities between India and multiple Asian and Australian destinations, via Singapore.

Jet will place its 9W flight code on Jetstar’s flights operating from Singapore to 11 destinations: Bangkok, Phuket, Perth, Darwin, Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Hong Kong. Three of these – Darwin, Phuket and Penang – will be entirely new destinations for the Indian carrier.

These services will connect at Singapore’s Changi Airport with Jet’s services to and from four Indian cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru.

“Jetstar Asia flies to some of the most popular leisure and business destinations across the Asia Pacific. With this codeshare agreement, our guests will now be able to conveniently tap into this extensive network to explore new and exotic destinations… via Singapore,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, Jet’s chief commercial officer.

This marks the latest codeshare partnership aiming to improve travel between Asia Pacific and India via Singapore; recently, Singapore Airlines and SilkAir agreed to codeshare with SIA’s Delhi-based subsidiary, Vistara.
