Mandarin Oriental and Mövenpick have both unveiled new sites in Ho Chi Minh over the last few days, and now striving to get in on the Vietnam act, Best Western Hotels & Resorts has announced its plans for a new high-end resort in Cam Ranh on the south coast of the country.

Fuelled by the expansion of Cam Ranh International Airport, set to open its second terminal by the end of 2018, Best Western Premier Cam Ranh Seahorse Beach Resort will feature 376 rooms, replete with large airy bathrooms, comfortable and stylish living areas, as well as being kitted out with all the latest mod-cons – including the ubiquitous and necessary complimentary wifi.

I am intrigued what the MICE set up will be, it’s an essential element of any hotel and a new plot gives developers a chance to really make an impact on the local scene – and the MICE wow factor can make or break a resort. Currently, details are sparse — other than a convention hall described as suitable for “every type and size of event, including major international conferences, all backed up with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology.”

By identifying Vietnam as one of its key markets for development, Best Western will cash in on the growing appeal of Asia as a holiday destination and the tremendous growth of international visitors to Vietnam, with the total number of foreign tourists to the country reaching 12,922,151 in 2017, an increase of 29.1% compared with 2016. A trend that has continued into 2018 with international arrivals for January and February totting up to 2,862,087 – a 29.7% increase for the same period last year.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Olivier Berrivin, Best Western’s managing director of international operations in Asia, said: “We are delighted to sign such a prestigious project in Vietnam, as we ramp up our expansion strategy in this dynamic country. Best Western Premier Cam Ranh Seahorse Beach Resort is a perfect example of the type of first-class properties we are now attracting in Asia.

With record numbers of international visitors, a large domestic population and rising levels of affluence, Vietnam is an incredibly exciting destination with huge tourism potential. We look forward to welcoming guests to this excellent resort in future and will continue to seek opportunities to bring Best Western’s world-class standards of hospitality to more areas of the country.” Olivier added.
