easyJet offers flight status checks by Amazon Alexa

easyJet has become the first European carrier to allow its passengers to check their flight status using Amazon Alexa. The low-cost carrier has added the “skill” to Alexa, the voice interactive search tool. As a result, easyJet’s passengers can now start a conversation with the device by saying, “Alexa, open easyJet”, and check the latest arrival and departure information for their flight.

Oakwood rents electric scooters in Singapore

Many hotels offer bicycle hire, but Oakwood Studios Singapore is taking the service a step further by providing use of electric scooters. With the new e-scooter rental service, which launched on 29 June, guests can hire battery-powered vehicles to explore the local area. For its fleet of scooters, Oakwood partnered with local company EGT Scooters. Rental rates begin at SG$30 per day.

LG unveils “world’s thinnest hotel TV”

LG Electronics has unveiled what it is billing as the “world’s thinnest hotel TV”. The new 65-inch LG OLED Wallpaper Hotel TV, which was revealed at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition & Conference (HITEC), is just 3.86mm thick and can be installed in hotel rooms using ultra-slim wall brackets with a magnetic mat, to make it seem as if the TV is part of the wall.

Robot assistant starts working at Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport has become the latest travel company to appoint Pepper, the robotic customer service agent. This summer, the humanoid robot named “BRUce Pepper” will be on hand to help passengers find their way around Brussels Airport. As well as directions, the robot can also read boarding passes and provide flight updates, including gate information.
