The Chedi Club Balloon

The Chedi Club Ubud has launched the latest adventure option in Bali, by introducing a 50-metre-high hot air balloon ride over its scenic rice fields and the lush tropical forests of Ubud.

For travellers who want to cross out ‘hot air balloon ride’ in their bucket list – they can do just that at The Chedi Club Ubud in Bali. The adventure option began early this week when the resort launched its hot air balloon outings, which will be available three times daily.

“A balloon is exactly the way to see Ubud from on high”

This is a first in Bali; Deasy Swandarini, the general manager of The Chedi Club Ubud, proudly commented: “Bali’s got it all – beaches, temples, volcanoes, rice paddies, puppets, dancers, sacred forests – but no balloons. A balloon is exactly the way to see Ubud from on high.”

Balloon tours have been popular in some of the world’s most exotic locations, but not in Bali, until recently. The Chedi Club’s new offering will be the only ballooning opportunity on the Island of the Gods and the first such initiative launched by a resort.

The flight climbs 50 metres high above the resort’s expansive rice fields, the forests of Ubud, and the five-hectare estate of Hendra Hadiprana, which is now The Chedi Club. At the end of the scenic tour, its passengers can enjoy drinks with views of Mt. Agung in the near distance.

“You might capture the same images with a drone but seeing it with your own eye is something else entirely,” added Swandarini.

Multiple daily flights are scheduled at dawn, in the late afternoon / early evening, and just after moonrise. For each flight, the balloon can accommodate a maximum of two adults and two children (under 12), together with a certified pilot. The balloon can hold weight not exceeding 230 kilograms.

The balloon flights cost US$150 for morning and afternoon trips, with breakfast or afternoon tea included. While the final flight of the day costs US$200, with dinner for two adults. The flights last between five to seven minutes and it’s on offer from June until November.
