Air China has uncovered that almost a quarter of Brits (24%) have China as their top travel destination on their bucket list.

In a survey of 2000 Brits, 68% said the Great Wall of China was the place they would most like to visit despite the fact that nine in ten Brits have never been to China. This is followed by Terracotta Army in Xi’an (53%), widely considered as one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world and the Forbidden City in Beijing (51%).

The study proves that aspiring travellers are more captivated by the thought of being awestruck by these man-made wonders and historical sites.

“A strong appetite to travel to the country”

Hongbing Chen, the deputy general manager at Air China Europe, commented: “Although it’s surprising that so few Brits have travelled to China, it’s fantastic to see there is such a strong appetite to travel to the country.”

It is, however, not just the Great Wall of China that is inspiring Brits to visit China. More than a third (35%) would like the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Giant Pandas at Chengdu’s Panda Base. Along with the pandas, the base also cares for other rare and endangered wild animals within the area.

“Building lasting connections between the UK and China”

Chen added: “To help Brits land their dreams by beginning their journey to China, Air China is pleased to offer premium services on board new, wider air-crafts which provide a regular and reliable service between China and the UK. Air China strives to constantly better-serve its passengers and aims to allow travellers to chase their dreams, while also building lasting connections between the UK and China.”
