A new airline has taken to the skies in Cambodia.

JC International Airlines, which is part-owned by Yunnan Jingcheng Group, the Chinese company that also operates Kunming-based Ruili Airlines, launched its first flight on Saturday 18 March 2017.

It will initially operate two domestic routes, with daily flights linking Siem Reap with Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, using a fleet of two 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.

And JC International’s CEO, Dongyan Huang, said the airline is planning to expand with more aircraft and international flights in the coming months.

“We will add three more planes throughout this year, including one in June, another in October and the other in December, to expand flights to ASEAN, China, Japan and South Korea,” Ms Dongyan was quoted saying by China’s Xinhua news agency.

Cambodia went several years without an airline, prior to the launch of Cambodia Angkor Air in 2009. Since then however, a series of new players have entered the market, and JC International Airlines becomes Cambodia’s fifth air carrier.
