A new study by Travel Insurance specialists InsureandGo reveals which countries, cities and tourist attractions travellers most want to return to.  

The researchers analysed thousands of comments on Reddit, as well as scrutinising the online reviews of hundreds of global attractions, to discover which tourist hotspots around the world people most want to revisit over and over.

Japan stands tall as the number one country that travellers want to see again, with tourists taking to Reddit to discuss how vast Japanese culture and the country itself is, leaving most yearning to come back and explore more of it. Meanwhile, city-wise, it’s London that takes the crown, with the British capital drawing visitors back repeatedly with its unique English charm.

When it comes to tourist attractions with the ultimate return-appeal, its theme parks that dominate, with Tennessee’s unmistakable Dollywood scoring first place, as well as the likes of Disneyland, Busch Gardens and Universal Studios all landing in the top ten.

Top 10 Countries People Most Want To Return To 

Japan, known as the Land of the Rising Sun, takes the top spot as the country travellers most want to re-visit. With 324 mentions of the country on subreddits discussing where travellers want to return to, it comes down to the immense variety of things on offer – with travellers often finding themselves running out of time to tick all the sights off their Japanese bucket lists.

Japan is followed by Italy and Spain, with 294 and 209 mentions, respectively. These two beautiful Mediterranean countries that often feature in most visited country lists both offer delicious gastronomic scenes, dazzling coastlines and impressive architecture.

Other notable countries in the top 10 include Thailand, a popular southeast Asian country that is home to elephants, white sand beaches and spectacular temples, as well as Iceland, where travellers search for the northern lights, bathe in geothermal lagoons and spot wildlife.
