Entry Requirements To Hawaii Could Change Soon

Hawaii is one of the strictest COVID states, if not the most rigorous. Since the beginning, they’ve been that way, with Governor David Ige doing everything he can to safeguard his residents, adhere to scientific principles, and keep COVID out.

Hawaii had a significant edge over other states with strict travel regulations: you can only get there by plane or boat. The Hawaiian government created the safe Travel Hawaii programme to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from trans-Pacific passengers arriving at Hawaii’s airports and ports.

Covid-19 testing is part of the plan, showing proof of full vaccination or agreeing to a period of self-quarantine.

There may be a new definition of “fully vaccinated” according to Hawaii’s Safe Travel programme.

Arriving visitors from out of state need two doses of the vaccination or a negative test to avoid being isolated upon arrival in Hawaii under the current rules. According to Gov. Ige, the state is considering requiring a booster shot to be labelled “completely vaccinated,” as many government agencies have done.

Ige claims that any official change to Safe Travels will take weeks if they choose to make a booster shot a requirement. People will have plenty of time to prepare and make necessary adjustments as a result.

Ige and the county mayors are discussing a booster’s access to restaurants and events. Still, the final decision appears to remain with them.

As far as proof of vaccination and entry into restaurants and bars are concerned, the rules in Hawaii’s several counties vary.
