One of Europe’s hottest ski resorts is Courchevel in the French Alps. It sits at the far eastern edge of Les Trois Vallées, which is the world’s largest linked ski area, and is where some of the 1992 Winter Olympic Game events took place. The village is also home to a variety of luxury hotels, some of which feel like palaces, and many of which offer ski-in, ski-out access. Here are four favorites.  

1. Hotel le K2

One of Courchevel’s most impressive resorts, Hotel le K2 features a perfect combination of luxury, style and location. Close to the center of the village, but still offering ski-in ski-out access, it is nestled into the mountainside, and blends in well with the natural environment. It is a boutique property with just 29 rooms in the main hotel and five surrounding chalet suites, all with panoramic views. We love the elegant contemporary decor, with rooms done up in French Alpine meets Tibetan chic style. There is also an exceptional spa, two Michelin starred restaurants, and an elegant cigar bar on the property.  

2. Aman Le Melezin

This hotel also has ski-in, ski-out access right on the mountain and just a few hundred meters from the village. The Aman Le Melezin is a lavish boutique property with an impressive lobby featuring distressed parquet flooring, wood paneling and vintage black and white photographs. There are just 31 spacious guest rooms, which all feature red cedar-plank walls and ceiling and floors carpeted in linen. The in-house bar is a popular après ski spot and the restaurant offers not only traditional French, but also an authentic Thai menu in an elegant manor house environment. Finally there is a spa, fitness centre, steam room, and swimming pool.

3. Les Neiges

The posh Les Neiges Hotel on the Bellecote piste is another luxurious option. It has spacious chalet-style rooms and ski-in, ski-out access within easy reach of the main ski lift station that serves the Three Valley area. The interior design is inspired by movie themes and you’ll find moody, black and shots of film stars from Brigette Bardot to Halle Berry on the walls. Despite the retro theme, amenities are super modern, with everything in the 32 rooms and 20 suites – from curtains to lighting to room service – controlled by iPad. Service is attentive and there are a number of different dining options on property. A large spa, indoor swimming pool, and an in-house theatre for guests to use, are other perks.

4. L’Apogee

For an all out splurge, L’Apogee is one of the world’s most expensive hotels. It is the creation of Parisian designers India Mahdavi and Joseph Dirand, and located in a manor house that feels refined rather than over the top luxurious. Rooms feature a burgundy, dark green and gingham palette and everything from the pony skin stools in the bar to the antique bathroom mirrors in the rooms has been created especially for the property. And with 170 staff for just 53 rooms, the service here is beyond attentive.
