Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort: Opening date: 1 July 2023
Located on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawai‘i, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort will debut in Summer 2023 as the latest incarnation of its iconic namesake. Spanning 81 acres of stunning geologic landscape and richness, the reimagined resort will draw inspiration from the history of the site, local culture, and natural elements to deliver a distinctively Hawaiian experience. From the design, to the amenities, to the experiential offerings, every element of the property has been carefully curated to celebrate the quintessential elements of the original Kona Village Resort that made it so beloved and will demonstrate a profound connection to and appreciation of the habitat and heritage of its one-of-a-kind location within the ahupua’a of Kaupulehu.
Spearheaded by Hawai’i-raised architect, Greg Warner of Walker Warner Architects, and designed by San Francisco-based interior design firm, NICOLEHOLLIS, offerings will include 150 guest hale (a traditional Hawaiian structure, much like a refined beach bungalow); five restaurants and bars, including the original resort’s beloved Shipwreck Bar and Talk Story Bar; a full-service Asaya, Rosewood’s integrative wellness concept, complete with a state-of-the-art fitness center; and an array of event spaces and outdoor activities. A commitment to sustainability will be evident throughout the entire property (the resort will be powered 100% by solar energy), while an on-site cultural center will further provide both visitors and locals with perspective into the rich natural and cultural significance of the surroundings.
