Great Rail Journeys has announced that Sharon Smith, head of sales & distribution is to leave the company and a search has been initiated for a permanent replacement. 

Alex Roberts, group sales & marketing director said: “Sharon has been key to the growth of Great Rail Journeys Limited over the last three years and has made a big impact in developing our trade sales. Sharon will be very much missed within the business – and no doubt the agents that support us – but we wish her well in her future ventures.”

Smith joined the operator in 2014 and since joining has successfully headed up the group escorted touring call centre, tailor-made FIT call centre, UK & Ireland travel trade partnerships as well managing the national business development team.

Her final day with the UK’s largest rail holiday operator will be 24 August. Roberts added: “A succession plan for Sharon is well underway and an announcement will be made in the near future”.
